These aluminum and stainless steel ships are among the most intricate and complex weathervanes ever built. Each vane is an extremely accurate and detailed reproduction of a ship constructed from the original naval blueprints (ancient ships usually require more extensive research). They are very heavily built to endure the most violent storms (spars have been successfully load tested for 200 mph gusts). Theft deterence is built in. Rigging plans are faithfully reproduced in swedged stainless steel cable of enormous strength, and the shaft is a stainless steel 1.25 inch diameter solid round bar that will not bend to anything short of an asteroid hit. Polyurethane coating protects the weathervane from the elements and duplicates the original ships' colors and appearance.

Opulent weathervanes can be very valuable investments. One vintage vane was auctioned for $770,000 in the late '80's. These ships are unique, detailed and accurate. These are qualities which contribute to a strong appreciation in value. Commisions have included a 16th century Venetian war galley for J.P.J. DeJoria's vast hilltop villa overlooking Malibu Beach - a 74 gun ship-of-the-line for the mutual fund icon, The Vanguard Group - the famed ketch "Ticonderoga" for her new owner - and a catboat for the CEO of "This Old House". Also under development are a Jurassic period pterosaur with a six foot wingspan, an apocalyptic grim reaper on a frenzied skeletal horse, the "RMS Titanic" and a Celtic/Viking style medieval banner vane. Prices for these commissions have ranged from $5,600 to nearly $17,000 with the mean cost falling between $7,000 and $8,000.
